Before the Procedure

What is a hair transplant FUE?
FUE is the name of the procedure which stands for follicular unit extraction. FUE is the automated method that we use. The accuracy and speed of extracting each hair follicle are much more efficient than the manual removal methods used in the past. There is no incision nor skin removal because the donor’s hair is not removed by scalpel so this form of transplant leaves no linear scars.
Who is a candidate for this procedure?
A patient can know if they are a candidate if they are experiencing moderate hair loss where hair miniaturization has already occurred. The most common candidates suffer from Androgenic Alopecia, where miniaturization of the hair follicles occurs at the temporal peaks, crown, and or frontal forelock areas. Miniaturization of the follicles can also occur in the area of the eyebrows and the beard. Candidates are required to have enough hair follicles to be extracted from the occipital donor area.
Is FUE for both men and women?
It is the ideal procedure for anyone who has hair loss and or shows some hair loss. Hair loss is not gendered; as many as 50% of women suffer from hair loss throughout their lifetimes and are candidates for hair restoration intervention. FUE allows us to perform a discreet extraction of the follicular units via our “hidden procedure” technique.
How will I know if my results will be what I expect?
It is very important that the patient communicates to the doctor their expectations and that they understand that they must be reasonable aesthetically and according to the amount they accept to be transplanted. Dr. Eric Adler evaluates the amount you will need to cover baldness. If the doctor recommends a quantity of follicles and the patient prefers to do less, he should expect that his alopecic area does not achieve the density that he would achieve with the amount that the expert proposes.
What do I have to do to request an evaluation?
You can call Hair Restoration by Adler to request an in-person or virtual consultation at 787-751-3361. You can also write to info@adlermd.com and send four photos: a front shot, a picture of the crown of your head, and one of your left and right profile.
It would be a pleasure to assist you in clarifying all the doubts you have.
During

How many follicles are extracted?
The number of follicles is depending on the recommendation from Dr. Adler and or his team of Hair Restoration specialists. They will evaluate your degree of hair loss and recommend the number of follicles to be transplanted.
What is the benefit of FUE over the traditional "Strip" operation?
The traditional strip procedure requires an incision that leaves a linear scar. The advantages of the FUE hair transplant technique begin with the wounds themselves. With FUE, no sutures needed at the end of the procedure because all we do is extract an entire follicular unit using a punch biopsy of 0.75mm in circumference. With our technique, you will achieve great results with low discomfort and no linear scarring.
Does the transplant hurt?
Some patients will experience minimal discomfort during their procedure and recovery. While some patients are more sensitive, acetaminophen is recommended to alleviate the discomfort.
After the Procedure

How long are the results seen?
Around six months after the procedure, patients should experience approximately 50% of new hair growth. At 12 to 18 months, patients should experience the full results of an FUE hair transplant.
How long is that transplanted hair?
The transplanted hair does not stop growing; it will continue to grow normally and naturally forever.
What else does Hair Restoration by Adler offer?
We believe in prevention. Not everyone is candidate for a hair transplant, but could be a candidate for preventive intervention. The use of hair restoration products such as vitamins, low-level laser therapy, shampoo, conditioners, tonics and or prescription medication will be recommended. We’ll be at your side throughout your hair restoration journey.
